Conservation

At The Fowler Farm, we strongly support waterfowl conservation. Concerning mallards, we encourage the selective harvest of only greenheads in an effort to support the population. Shots are typically taken at close range, and identification of greenheads is usually not difficult. Guides will help identify the drakes. Legal limits of mallards containing no hens are something to be proud of and are common at The Fowler Farm.

Early shutdown to allow roosting birds time to feed during daylight hours is also common. Quitting time is governed by the return of larger flocks of roosting ducks, and is left up to the discretion of the guides.
